The museum is being updated with a new exhibit and Halloween hauntings! Next exhibit: Women of the Ancient World. The Portland Puppet Museum (PPM) opened in May 2012 in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. It is one of only a few museums in the nation dedicated to the history and preservation of the art of puppetry. PPM has featured over 50 different exhibits in the past decade. Each exhibit showcases between 200 and 400 puppets of all sizes and kinds, plus puppet memorabilia from around the world. The survival of the exhibit hall is dependent on ticket sales for workshops, live performances, and donations. PPM also performs at events such as the Italian Festival, Robin Hood Festival, and at local shopping centers and schools. We also run interactive and educational outreach programs such as Senior Tours, homeschool, and Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations. The Museum is frequently featured in major articles and news segments, including in the New York Times special 36 hours in Portland and is rated as one of the 10 best museums in Portland by hotels.com. The exhibit hall is open Thursday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Puppet shows are frequently held in the exhibit hall and in the outdoor theater during the summer.
