# The Direct Index > Measures whether AI agents can find, read and act on a business's own website. Any business, anywhere. Independent, open data, no pay-to-rank. Built in Lisbon by Antonio Curado. ## The idea: agent-direct When an agent books, orders or buys through a marketplace, the business pays a commission. When it does so on the business's own site, it pays nothing. "Agent-direct" is a site an agent can reach, read, act on, and is sent to. https://directindex.org/agent-direct ## The Agent-Direct Score, spec v1.0 (0 to 100) - Reachable, 25: robots.txt allows the eight key AI tokens (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User); live fetches as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot get a normal page; HTTPS; at least 500 characters of text without JavaScript. - Readable, 25: JSON-LD for the business; address, telephone, opening hours; a menu or price list as HTML rather than PDF, image or nothing. - Actionable, 30: a booking or ordering path on the business's own domain (15), booking or ordering software on a vendor domain (10), unrecognised third party (6), marketplace only (3), phone or WhatsApp only (2); plus up to 15 for a browser-agent action test that stops before submitting anything. - Cited, 20: share of assistant answers (four assistants, three prompts, two runs) that link the business's own site rather than a marketplace. Grades: A 85+, B 70 to 84, C 55 to 69, D 40 to 54, F below 40. Pending components make a score provisional. Also reported, not scored: llms.txt, Content Signals in robots.txt, WebMCP tools on the page, a Markdown alternate.
