We cook the way our mothers and grandmothers taught us — nothing rushed, everything with love. For me, food is more than a recipe — it’s how we connect. It brings people together, starts conversations, builds friendships, and creates community.” – Lula Kinnaird (Founder) Ambience Sharing real food & real stories. Our national bread – and perhaps Ethiopia’s most iconic dish – is one of the oldest prepared dishes in the world, with a history stretching back to 600 AD. And teff, the grain injera is made from, has an even older history: archaeologists have found evidence of its domestication since 10,000BC. That’s 7,000 years older than Stonehenge! For me, injera is a symbol of everything I love about my country. It’s designed to be shared, encouraging people to break bread together. And it’s hearty, healthy and nourishing, as it’s gluten-free and packed full of vitamins and flavour. But it also requires patience – the teff flour is fermented for several days to achieve that unique, tangy flavour.
