Originally owned by Peter Lee, a Galway native new to America, the Irish Village offered other Irish immigrants a taste of home. The warm and welcoming atmosphere quickly drew in others of non-Irish descent, turning the Irish Village into a neighborhood pub in the truest sense. In 1990, Peter’s sons took over the bar’s management. The bar continued to flourish as a neighborhood meeting spot and became known as one of the best places an Irish emigrant could go to quickly get assimilated into the local Irish scene. Changes were made to update the bar’s atmosphere, but much remained the same.Today’s Irish Village doesn’t stray far from its tradition as a neighborhood pub. Clean, comfortable, and stylish, the Irish Village’s history is evident throughout. From the framed black and white images of the Irish Village Soccer Club that line the top of the bar to the antique Budweiser Clydesdale-drawn beer promotional piece, from the handmade mirrors advertising beers like Smithwick’s and Bass to the antique Guinness stanchion, the Irish Village remains a piece of living history. In 2023 the Irish Village expanded by moving into the former bakery space adjacent to the pub. The cozy but stylish lounge features a weekly pub trivia, open mic, and karaoke along with the areas best live music every Friday and Saturday night. Join us for a pint!
