View The Town Trail > Reservoir Monument Trail: Rivington A guided trail around the Upper Rivington Reservoir which takes the walker to six monuments positioned to tell the history of the Rivington Reservoir chain. View The Reservoir Trail > Port Sunlight Trip Horwich Heritage members and friends enjoyed a fabulous day out in Port Sunlight on 12th Sept. The sun shone and, being Heritage Weekend, everything was free! We are still in awe of everything Lord Leverhulme created there. Below are some photos of our group relaxing on the green, the Lady Lever Art Gallery, War Memorial, Dell, Church and superb architecture. 20 Years of Horwich Heritage Centre Exhibition There was an excellent turn out for the opening of our 20 Years of Horwich Heritage Centre exhibition on Saturday 5th September. The current Mayor of Horwich, Cllr Kevin McKeon, was in attendance as was Cllr Steve Rock, who was the Mayor when the Centre opened in 2006, and there was a special return appearance by 'Mr Magee' (see photo) who featured in one of the early Heritage Centre displays. Chairman, Stuart Whittle, gave a slide presentation showing how much had been achieved in those 20 years: over 120 exhibitions, 50,000 visitors (including 10,000 school children) as well as numerous talks, tours and film shows. All the visitors were treated to birthday cake
