This is the promise by Michelangelo (“Michele”) Caforio, a 3rd generation restaurateur, who is bringing his flair and experience to a new restaurant called Amore Floreat in the heart of Floreat. Located on Cambridge Street, Amore Floreat is one of a number of restaurants on the street. What is being described as a new ‘Foodie hub’, the small strip of shops is transforming into a one stop location for people wanting to take away a great meal or sit and enjoy the vibe from the many choices now available. Home Food made a Family Michele’s restaurant journey started when his Grandfather opened the first restaurant in their home town of Martina Franca in the Puglia region, South Italy, in 1908. Years later, Michele’s father opened the Park Hotel San Michele, the largest still operating hotel in the same town. Michele grew up working in the restaurant and hotel, learning the traditional Italian techniques for producing genuine cuisine. “What I am trying to achieve in Amore Floreat is a traditional Italian dining experience. I will be using only the freshest of produce and every meal whether it is dine in or take away will have elements of the Puglia way of cooking”. Michele’s experience isn’t limited to his family ties. While living in Beijing for five years, Michele owned a restaurant in Beijing and also cooked at the Australian embassy in Beijing. Diplomats, VIPs and local and international guests all enjoyed his unique and fun approach to dining. Michele moved to Perth over two years ago with his Perth wife who he met in China.
