Opened in 1976 on the first floor only, the ground floor was still being used as accommodation for the Wimbledon Common Rangers. However a Heritage Lottery Grant enabled the museum to be extended to both floors in 1999.Watch the Sails go round! Our iconic windmill sails will be turning at specific weekends (every 5 weeks). We regularly need to turn the Windmill sails to make sure everything is still working and nothing has seized up. At 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday, one of the WPCC Rangers will be up in the roof and releasing the brake so the sails go round! Only for a short time - 30 to 45 mins max, depending on the wind (of course!) We have caveats - if there's no wind then it becomes a manual turning so that will reduce the time we see the sails moving. And if there are any incidents on the common the Ranger will be delayed - but - all things being equal, 2pm is a hopeful guesstimate.Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec8th/9th 12th/13th 17th/18th 21st/22nd 26th/27th2PMSATURDAY & SUNDAYWindmill Museum Opening HoursSundays, 11am–5pm, during British Summertime (this year until Sunday 25 October 2026) Admission is free Donations are at your discretion (but very gratefully received!) and can be provided as cash, card, or via this page. Please check our Facebook or Instagram for any unforeseen changes.Group Tours & School Visits Outsid
